Here is Sal's piece about aikido.
WHAT AIKIDO MEANS TO ME
When I practice aikido I am striving to work in co-operation with my attacking partner by implementing an effective technique which enables me to blend with the attack re-direct it's energy back to the attacker. I am learning to resolve conflict in a non lethal yet effective manner.
Aikido teaches me to defend against a variety of attacks, thus training a positive state of mind and mental calm. the repetitive training is enabling me to change from a conscious thought process to an automatic reflex response, maintaining a good posture and centre. This now helps me to become more self aware, stronger mentally and compassionate, having the confidence to now better defend against a diverse range of volatile situations.
