Ichi - no - Kata

This is for those of you who - a) have a jo b) have enough room outside to practise this - don't try it indoors unless you have a massive house! and c) have practised it before (because it is really only an aide memoire).

Start in left posture holding the stick vertical in your left hand then flip up and take with your right hand as well then -
Tsuki defence
Defence is a sweep round your left side finishing with your stick held protecting your face and body.
Tsuki defence
In final defence position slide your right hand down to the left let go with the left and put it at the top of the stick then
Yokomen over right shoulder
This time don't change your hands.
Yokomen over left shoulder
Your left hand is behind your right on the stick take it off and put it in front of your right then
Back tsuki
Shomen defence
Shomen
Turn and poke to the eyes
As you poke your stick slides through your left hand which is at the front let go with the right and let the stick fall into the start position and -
Repeat
At the end of the repeat don't repeat the poke simply hold the stick in a defence position over your face the let it fall into the starting posture.

Good luck with this if you want to give it a try. You can always contact John or me for help. Wielding a stick will certainly ensure social distance!
